Making a Move to Natural Skincare Products in 2020

Following the holiday period, many of us can feel sluggish from overindulging. Now that it's almost January, it's time to re-evaluate our goals for the New Year. And for many, their emphasis is on health.

Your new year's resolution for 2020 may be to be healthier, from fitness to what you eat. But, did you know that the skincare products we use can have an impact on our health too?

To aid you on your journey to a healthier you, we've put together the following tips from hydration to making a move to natural skincare products:

1. Hydrate!

Hydration is extremely important for our overall health and has enormous beauty benefits too.

Aim to drink 2 litres of water a day, more on hot days and if you drink a lot of tea and coffee.

Tip: Not a fan of water? No problem, try adding fruits such as berries of citrus to your water for a hit of natural flavour. Coconut water is also an option (maybe not for all 2 litres of your water goal) as it has electrolytes to hydrate you, plus it's packed with other benefits such as antioxidants.

2. Watch what you eat

Ever heard the old saying "you are what you eat?". While it's a bit harsh, there's some foundation to it as what we put into our bodies impacts our health, energy production, weight, complexion and more.

Try and limit sugary treats and empty calories and opt for wholesome foods instead. After the holiday period, our sugar cravings may have peaked, so you may find yourself reaching for a sugar-laden snack after dinner. The best way to success is by ridding your house of these foods and stocking up on healthier options.

3. Limit alcohol

Alcohol negatively affects the body in many ways, and it can lead to inflammation, impaired metabolism, disrupted sleep, damaged skin and more.

By cutting out alcohol for a bit, or even just cutting back, you may see health benefits pop up that you weren't expecting.

4. Don't forget to exercise

Exercise is essential for a healthy life. Establishing a routine of exercise can be the most challenging part, so try and find something that you like. If the idea of pounding the pavement every day is far from motivating, then consider other activities such as group sports, swimming, fitness classes, signing up to a gym and more.

5. Sleep!

It's called beauty sleep for a reason, but it's often not put as a priority. Establishing a regular sleep routine of 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep a night can go a long way to becoming a healthier you in 2020.

6. Take a look at your cosmetics

Ever wondered what kind of nasties are lurking in your cosmetics? Many mainstream brands are choc-full of toxins that can have an impact on our health, like interfering with our hormones and more.

By making a move to natural cosmetics, you are removing yet another avenue in which you currently expose yourself to toxins. Unfortunately, it's impossible to completely avoid exposure to toxins as they are all around.

Whatever we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bodies, so using clean, naturals products seems like a natural choice, right?
